Vintage Copper Tavern PlaqueBoxwoodLane.com
Casted copper plaque of an old Tavern scene. Charming depiction of people drinking, dancing, and just having fun in an old tavern. The casting process allows for excellent detail in this piece. Comes in a wooden/gesso frame with a gold finish. We couldn't find any maker's marks on this piece, however it has a number with some illegible text on the back of the plaque written in pencil, but we're not sure if this is significant at all. We're also not completely sure of its age. It appears to have considerable age though, possibly produced in the late 1800s or early 1900s (based on comparing items of this same period). Very unique piece though. We couldn't find any others quite like it.
Its small size is wonderful for accenting more intimate areas in your home, such as a home office or library. Or perfect piece to hang behind the bar to give it that old-world tavern look.
- The plaque measures about 8" x 5.75".
- Total overall size framed is about 11.25" x 9".
- Part of our Estate Collection and in good vintage condition, however there are signs of its age on both the plaque and frame, including areas on the copper plaque where it has tarnished and turned green. The frame has lost some of its gold finish and the white gesso is showing through. There are also some minor chips in the gesso. We feel these defects only make this piece even more attractive and interesting.
