Sterling Silver Spoon - 1893BoxwoodLane.com
Antique sterling silver spoon with a date mark of 1893. We believe this spoon commemorates the Battle of the Three Kings in 1578 (or the battle of Ksar Kebir) when King Sebastian of Portugal waged war against Morocco. It has a figural handle with a soldier wielding a sword and shield. The spoon and handle have gold highlights, but most of this has worn off over time. The sterling marks also indicate this spoon was made in London, England. It also has the mark "HF", which might be a maker's mark, but we're not aware of who the maker might be.
- Measures about 4.5" long.
- Made in London, England.
- Approximately 52.7 grams
- Part of our Estate Collection and in very good vintage condition. The finish is very nice, although most of the gold highlights have worn off over time. There are no dents or significant scratches. Very nice and unique item!
