Jiyu Gakuen Handcrafted DollsJiyu Gakuen
Jiyu Gakuen ("House of Tomorrow") is a school for girls in Japan that was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in the 1920's. Frank Lloyd Wright was impressed by the school's Christian-oriented freethinking educational philosophy. So impressed that he wanted to design two buildings for them. We believe these handcrafted cloth dolls were used by the students of this school. Both have "Jiyu Gakuen Handcraft" stamped on their shirts (no other tags or maker-marks). Please note that the doll stands are not included.
There is a boy and girl doll with each measuring about 13" tall.
They both show signs of use and having been played with - some dirt on their face and body. But they're both in very good overall vintage condition. Part of our Estate Collection.
