Joseph Fruhmesser (1928-1995) original painting of a Bavarian village scene. Joseph Fruhmesser was born in Linz, Austria. He traveled with his father, who was a civil engineer, throughout Austria and Bavaria on various assignments. Joseph grew to love the scenery and mountains of Bavaria and his native Austria, and began to sketch them at every opportunity. After World War II, he moved to Munich where he made it his home. He married, set up a studio, and began to paint. He was a self taught artist who's paintings were his lifetime occupation and passion.
This lovely painting of a Bavarian village is framed and is sized at 27" x 33" (overall framed size) and 24" x 30" (size of painting only). It has had a few repairs made in the past for tears in the canvas, which are now barely detectable from the front. It displays very nicely and is truly a beautiful piece. Part of our Estate Collection and in very good vintage condition. We did notice that a few white spots are on the painting where the paint seems to have chipped off (please see third photo). These small areas of imperfection do not detract from the overall appearance of the painting.
