French Spelter FigurinesBoxwoodLane.com
Pair of French spelter figurines. Male and Female (Pecheur et Pecheuse). We've seen these described as a Fisherman and Fisherwoman. Hard to find items, but those that we've seen typically have a wood base. We've never seen them with these slate and marble bases (they might not be original to these pieces, we're not sure). Both are loose from their base, but still display very nicely. Spelter was used quite a bit in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Each have nice detail and have a great classic look.
- Made of spelter metal with bases made of stone - likely slate and marble.
- Each measure about 13.75" tall (including the base).
- Part of our Estate Collection and in good vintage condition. They each have some flaws as you would expect from older items. Both figurines are loose from their bases. The Fisherwoman can be separated from the base. The Fisherman figurine seems to have a different top plate on the base than the Fisherwoman figurine. Not really something that's obvious unless you're looking for it. Also, the base on the Fisherman figurine is loose (it can swivel a bit). As long as you're not wanting to move them around much, they both still display very nicely. They look especially stately with these stone bases.
