Antique stipple engraving with hand coloring - "Cries of London - Do you want any matches?" Painted originally by Francis Wheatley and engraved by A. Cardon - dated 1794. This is the 4th plate in a series of 13 in Wheatley's "Cries of London". They were so popular that Colnaghi & Company commissioned some of the best engravers in England to produce 13 of them in stipple. This particular piece comes matted and framed as pictured.
- Overall size of the frame is 21.25" x 16". The exposed part of the engraving measures about 14.5" x 10.25".
Part of our Estate Collection and in excellent vintage condition. The frame has minor imperfections from previous use, but nothing significant. Minor yellowing of paper from age.
