Century Magazine - 1880sCentury Company of New York
Century Magazine - covering May through October of 1885 and May through October of 1889. Both have black leather spines and corners along with marbled paper over board covers. This is a great opportunity to own a vast amount of first-hand historical information about the healing of this country after the Civil War. There are interviews with Robert E. Lee and other persons of both the Union and Confederate armies. There are articles about books of the day and other topics of interest to people in the 1880s (religion, poetry, even dog breeds). Really a great view into common life during this unique time in American history. Published by the Century Co. of New York.
- Each book measures about 9.5" x 7" x 2".
- Part of our Estate Collection and in very good vintage condition. The leather spines and cardboard covers show wear, including rubbing and some loss of finish and gold lettering. Interior pages show yellowing, but not much in the way of foxing. The 1889 edition is dampstained in parts, but text is not damaged. Both have stickers on the inside front covers of the "American Expeditionary Forces" (the expeditionary force during WWI) and from the original bookseller; J. W. Randolph & Company of Richmond, Virginia.
