Ashworth Covered Bowl - 1891Ashworth Bros.
Ashworth Bros. covered dish or bowl in the Mason's Blue Pheasant pattern - circa 1880 - 1891. Ashworth Bros. purchased the Mason's moulds in 1858 and started to produce many of the pieces that Mason's had made. You'll find earlier versions of this same pattern marked as Mason's, with some dating back to the early part of the 1800's. This particular piece was a little hard to identify because the maker's mark on the underside is blurred, but it looks like the Ashworth Brothers Hanley mark. It doesn't have "England" included, which was added to the mark after 1891. So it appears as though the production period was around 1880 - 1891. It certainly is a beautiful piece, and in really nice condition. But we're pricing it lower because of the blurred maker's mark... just in case some of our information is not completely accurate. In either case, it's really a nice piece that you'll be proud to display.
