Ashworth & Bros. Plates & DishAshworth & Bros.
Item ID: Ashworth & Bros. Plates & Dish
Set of 6 G.L. Ashworth & Bros. Staffordshire polychrome plates, plus a covered serving dish in the Chinese pattern. There are 3 dinner plates, which have production dates of the late 1800s. And there are 3 side plates that we believe were produced in the late 1800s or early 1900s. We think the covered serving dish was produced in the late 1800s. They are all stamped with the impression "Ashworth" on the bottom. They are a blue and white transferware with red/pink, green, and yellow painted over. G.L. Ashworth & Bros. started production in England in 1861.
- Each dinner plate measures about 9.25" in diameter.
- The side plates measure about 7.75" in diameter.
- The covered serving dish measures about 8" x 8" x 5".
- Made in England.
- Part of our Estate Collection and in good vintage condition but they all have some crazing, minor color loss and surface cracks. One has a small chip to the underside rim of a dinner plate (please see photo). The covered serving dish has a chip to the bottom rim or feet and a chip and hairline crack to the top rim of the dish. Neither of these are evident when displayed with the lid on. Overall, very nice set for this age.
