Afternoon on the Potomac ChromoWood's American Chromos
"Afternoon on the Potomac" chromolithograph. Based on an original painting by John R. Key dated 1868. This particular piece was published by H. Wood Jr. in the late 1800s. John R. Key (1832-1920) was well known for his frontier landscapes and was the grandson of Francis Scott Key, author of The Star Spangled Banner. This beautiful piece of art has been captured in a chromolithograph which gives it the look of a painting with the brush strokes and texture of an original.
- Comes in the original 19th century wood frame.
- Outer dimensions of the frame measures about 17.5" x 11".
- The print size is about 14" x 7.5".
- Part of our Estate Collection and in very good vintage condition. The print has minor marks from age, including what appears to be an abrasion near the top-center of the piece (please see photo). The frame has wear commensurate with age with some loss and minor scratching of the gilt.
